On June 23, the China Pea International Conference 2026 officially kicked off in Zhaoyuan, Shandong – home to the world’s largest pea protein production base. In his address, Cao Derong, President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA), noted that China’s pea trade is currently benefiting from both greater market access and upgrading consumer demand. However, he also cautioned that extreme weather, geopolitical tensions, and volatile shipping conditions are placing new demands on the resilience of the entire industrial chain. He encouraged companies to seize policy opportunities with precision and steer the industry toward a brand- and consumption-driven model, moving beyond its traditional reliance on raw material exports.
As a board member of the Global Pulse Confederation (GPC) and a Vice President Unit of CFNA, Bonagro was invited to attend the conference and felt a deep sense of responsibility.
